The light ruby-colored 1998 exhibits a sweet strawberry-scented nose with dried herbs and spice in the background. Round with decent acidity, an open-knit texture, and soft tannin, it should be consumed over the next 2-3 years.

For what would be considered this winery's base-level Chianti, it offers almost everything one could ask for, minus a lot of intensity. A nice cranberry nose, full fruit and character galore. Light more than heavy, it sits comfortably on your tongue before fading into a smooth, light finish. Hardly any overt tannins make it drinkable right away.

Light, but elegant and flavorful, this spry 1999 shows creamy cherry and light toast aromas, tart dried-cherry and chalk notes on the palate. Bright acidity keeps the fruit lively, and mild tarragon notes add interest.

Made from organically grown grapes, Coltibuonorsquo;s basic Chianti Classico is warm and ripe in 2007. The fruit is dark and pruney, with a floral aspect to cut its density as it lightens up in the finish.

The value-priced 2000 Chianti Cetamura is a heady, light to medium-bodied effort displaying notions of strawberry and cherry jam presented in a fruity, simple format. It requires consumption over the next 1-3 years.

The best Chianti vintage of the 90s has given us this outstanding buy from one of Chiantirsquo;s premier producers. The wine delivers rich, pure berry fruit with herb accents in a medium to full-bodied package.

The 2007 Chianti Cetamura is soft and accessible in its red cherries, flowers, tobacco and earthiness. The aromas are already rather forward, and this value-priced wine is best enjoyed over the next year or two. Anticipated maturity: 2009ndash;2011.

Winemaker's Notes:

Luminous ruby color. Forest berries, spices, leather, moist earth and dried plum, layered in the aroma. Soft, round taste, well-balanced acidity and clean and persistent aftertaste. Very pleasing, and ready to drink.
