The light ruby-colored 1998 exhibits a sweet strawberry-scented nose with dried herbs and spice in the background. Round with decent acidity, an open-knit texture, and soft tannin, it should be consumed over the next 2-3 years.

For what would be considered this winery's base-level Chianti, it offers almost everything one could ask for, minus a lot of intensity. A nice cranberry nose, full fruit and character galore. Light more than heavy, it sits comfortably on your tongue before fading into a smooth, light finish. Hardly any overt tannins make it drinkable right away.

After a couple of indifferent performances by this inexpensive wine from the Stucchi Prinetti family (the proprietors of Badia a Coltibuono), the 1997 Centura is an excellent bargain. Made in an open-knit, softly tannic, medium-bodied style, it is loaded with ripe black cherry fruit, leather, and dried herb characteristics. Spicy, with good intensity and a velvety-texture, this effort should drink well for another year.

A nice, easygoing Chianti, with meat and mineral character. Smooth palate, with light tannins and a medium, minerally finish. Slightly stewed fruit. Drink now.

A blend of Sangiovese (90%) and Canaiolo (10%), this Chianti is smooth as silk and a great value. Enjoy with pasta, pizza or provolone.

The best Chianti vintage of the 90s has given us this outstanding buy from one of Chianti's premier producers. The wine delivers rich, pure berry fruit with herb accents in a medium to full-bodied package.

The wine is a bright, intense red color with the essence of cherries and ripe wild berries in the nose. A soft, balanced, full-flavored wine with good structure. Well-balanced acidity accompanied by a long clean finish.
