I don't like Bacardi Gold. For the same price I can get some Mount Gay Eclipse, Sailor Jerry, Appleton Estate VX, or even Captain Morgan and have a better rum for my money. The smell is sweet enough to the nose but in the mouth the flavor is atrocious. It lacks the complexity of Mount Gay, the spiciness of Sailor or Captain, and the flavor of Appleton. People really like this rum but, for the life of me, I can't figure out why.

Winemaker's Notes:

* *_LITER: (1/3 larger than 750 ml)_* "Those looking to try rum straight for the first time are advised to fetch a bottle of Bacardi Gold. It is smoother than Bacardi's Light-Dry and its coffee taste is softer and creamier, and there's an oak presence, no doubt coming from the longer aging time.
(Rating ***1/2)" Alcoholreview.com
Available for shipment or delivery in NY state only.
