I could replace my morning grapefruit juice with this. Note: I actually drink orange juice in the morning, but if I drank grapefruit juice, I'd consider replacing it with this lovely wine. 92/100

You'll notice ripe apples and a nose hinting of grapefruit zest combined with floral scents. The citrus / grapefruit flavor is more apparent in the mouth, but not overwhelming, with a touch of chalkiness and minerality. This wine holds a good body with some richness. It is dry with good acidity. This wine will pair well with fish, seafood, chicken... the usual suspects.

The 2007 Sauvignon Blanc exhibits a quintessential herbaceous nose with gooseberry and a touch of mango on the sharp, crisp, perhaps slightly raspy finish.

Josip Babich was one of the fathers of the Kiwi wine industry, planting his first vines in 1916. His three children, Joe, Peter and Maureen, control the company now, and several grandchildren are involved. Winemaker Adam Hazeldine used two Marlborough vineyards, one in Awatere Valley and the other in Waihopai Valley, to make this Sauvignon Blanc.

Serves up concentrated, fleshy flavors of grapefruit and lime juice, with intense minerality. Wet gravel and a hint of jalapeño pepper linger on the finish. Drink now.

Bright and open-textured, with very good depth to apple, grass and grapefruit flavors. Stone notes underscore the finish. Drink now.

Winemaker's Notes:

This wine has a bouquet that is bursting with passionfruit, sweat, gooseberry and red current. The palate is rich, sweet fruited and complex with layers of guava, passionfruit and gooseberry. The acid/fruit balance is excellent with a lovely herbal flinty character and a lingering perfume on the finish. This is a reason why Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is so famous. Great with seafood or fish meals. Try with fresh oysters!
