Babich Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

Overview: A long and late ripening period of short sunny days and cold nights has enhanced the typically vibrant flavours of the Marlborough Region. Grapes: 100% Sauvignon Blanc Recommended Food: It works well with a white meat dish. Great with oysters or a green salad. Recommended Cellaring: Best enjoyed while young. Production Notes: After harvest the grapes were quickly crushed and pressed into stainless steel tanks where the juice was fermented at controlled cool temperatures to capture the intense varietal flavours. The wine was then blended and bottled. Tasting Notes: The aroma of lantana and wild herbs combines with tropical fruits and green apple. The palate is exuberant and intense -fruit salad, nettles and fresh herbs burst into existence and continue through the length of the palate, joined at the end by lime/citrus and mineral notes. A powerful and lengthy Sauvignon.

Flavors of sauteed mushrooms, vegetables, lemongrass, very crisp with mild sweetness, this wine maintains a strong body throughout and delivers savory goodness.

I have given up on trying others...I always come home to the incredible taste and balance of this wine! Love the grapefruit aroma and taste. Crisp and citrus...great aroma and body. Excellent for this price point.

Tasting Notes: This wine displays lifted tropical fruits with notes of lantana and capsicum. There is a passionfruit entry on the palate coupled with citrus and wild cape gooseberry notes that linger, and are quite literally mouthwatering! This is a balanced wine, with a texture that will match well with food but is equally enjoyable on its own. Awards: GOLD MEDAL - Fingers Lake International Wine Competition - May 2009 Reviews: "Good now but definitely a wine for the future. This wine has herbaceous, green grass and slightly tropical aromas that pave the way for good fruit concentration and an elegant acidity. Quite opulent and with good persistency this wine should develop beautifully in the coming months." 4 STARS
