Winemaker's Notes:

In the case of blended wine there are a multitude of wonderful and flavorful variables. Blend 23 is an engaging blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier and truly a wine of unique character. We crafted the Chardonnay to deliver a clean and bright wine reminiscent of Chablis. The Sauvignon Blanc frames the Chardonnay and Viognier in bright flavors and tropical notes with just the right concentration of acidity. The Viognier contributes a kick of grapefruit and a multitude of floral nuances – plus, a hint of viscosity that conveys a very pleasurable mouth-feel. Barrel fermented in 25% new tight grain French Oak.

Founded by Jim Borsack and Duffy Keys in 2003, B Cellars winery is the collaboration of two like-minded individuals that shared a vision and, through a happenstance meeting, brought to life their dream of creating a food-centric winery focused on blending varietals using a combination of Old and New World wine making perspectives. Soon after, they met their third key player, Kirk Venge. Named “one of the Top 20 New Winemakers in the World” by Food & Wine Magazine (October 2005), Kirk brings with him a 37-year winemaking legacy through his father, Nils Venge, and a keen understanding of the Napa appellation. A bond was established almost immediately between Jim, Duffy and Kirk. With Kirk’s passion for great wine, first-hand knowledge and commitment to excellence, it quickly became apparently that he was the ideal winemaker for B Cellars. B Cellars grew out of a love for food and wine but evolved into a passion and drive to craft fine wines that surpass the expected. This complex fusion exhibits exceptional balance of both acidity and body. Citrus fruits, and savory minerality are brought forth from the barrel fermented Chardonnay, while the Sauvignon Blanc provides tropical notes and stone fruits characters. The Viognier finishes this blend with notes of honeysuckle, and fresh flowers while rounding out the palate with notable viscosity.
