Azienda I Greppi Red Bordeaux Blend Bolgheri Superiore Greppicaia 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

#30 of Zachys Wine Spectator Top 100 Predictions of 2008"Dark ruby in color, with beatiful aromas of currant, mint and crushed berries. Complex and subtle. Full bodied, with ultrapolished tannins and gorgeous fruit. This goes on and on. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc...93" - WS Insider 08/08

These grapes are picked and vinified in stainless steel tanks under strict temperature control and the skins are pumped over to extract tannin and color. Aged in French and American oak for 10 months then 3 months in bottle. This is a super-tuscan at a fraction of the price! These vineyards are owned by the Landini family of Viticcio and a local Bolgheri family, Cancelleri-Scaramuzzi.. They are young vines that were sought after by the Antinori family for Guado Al Tasso, and are right around the corner from Sassicaia. They are located in the village of Castagneto Carducci, and total 20 hectares planted to high density Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. The results from the young vines have been outstanding, so we have a lot to look forward to as this project on improves.
