Avanti Malbec Rosé 2008

Member Review by ChipDWood:

The Argentinean 'incarnation' of the Malbec grape, with its tighter, smaller berry clusters than the varietal's original French predecessor lends beautifully to making Rose style wine. The Avanti, I think in particular, is a fantastic example of this. The nose, even quite chilled, is chock full of ripe, red cherry and even raspberries. The wine's approach on the palate is a crisp one, with nicely balanced acidity and fruity components. The trail to the finish is, again, crisp and clearly defined, and even lingers a bit- giving one the impression of "berries & cream" left on the palate. Very smooth, very refreshing, very affordable. Very much a favorite of mine. ~ Gonzo Disclosure ~ I paid for the wines I’ve reviewed out of my own pocket, though at a discounted rate from Giannone Wine & Liquor since I have been doing some minor consulting and graphic design work with the company. The truth of it is; Giannone tastings were responsible for my interest at having a second, more thorough look at what I found to be intriguing wines thanks to pouring them for tastings for John & company at Giannone. A deeper look, so to speak. I wanted a second look to be certain they had the kind of value that I was initially drawn to.

Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
