What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Winemakers Notes

Great effort. very rich and bright fruit with some apple, spice and maybe some clementine on the aftertaste. Decanted for 3 hours, the time blew off the heavy oak and left a great balance of fruit and oak.

Rating: 95/100 - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 132, May/June 2007 ($70; 15.6% alcohol; 70% new oak) Pale green-tinged color. Aromas and flavors of dried pineapple, grapefruit, nutmeg and minerals. Hugely rich and dense, with a compellingly pliant, silky texture and great fullness and volume. As rich and chewy as this is, there is no sign of phenolic character on the back end. Subtle vanilla and smoke notes from the oak add complexity.
