Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir Isabelle Morgan California Santa Barbara Red 2007
Jim Clendenen has been making wonderful wines since establishing his winery in 1982. It was then that he and Bob Lindquist of Qupe built the airy, modern winery they share in the middle of Bien Nacido vineyard and within a few years succeeded in putting Santa Barbara on the winemaking map. Jims wines continue to combine Burgundian sensibility with Californian style. While most Au Bon Climat Pinots are vineyard specific, Isabelle is created by masterful blending in the cellar of the best barrels from those specific sites (Bien Nacido, Sanford & Benedict, Talley Rincon, Mt. Carmel ... the proportions are a very proprietary secret). The result is a wine of incredible depth, complexity, and focus- very serious Pinot. A brilliant effort worthy of space in any cellar- it will live for years.
External Reviews for Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir Isabelle Morgan California Santa Barbara Red
Light, bright red. Sexy aromas of strawberry, raspberry, Asian spices and rose; smells like a suave Chambolle-Musigny. Light on its feet, with graceful, concentrated red fruit flavors and notes of candied flowers and tangy minerals. Impressively elegant pinot with strong finishing florality and lingering sweetness. I'd love to serve this to a die-hard Burgundy lover.
