Atwater Gewurztraminer 2007

Member Review by Philip James:

Sweet nose, some residual sugar. Rather emollient but not too fruity. Overall an ok wine. Very easy drinking for those turned off by the traditional floral gewurz. Tasted at the winery.

A taut, minerally style, with lime and pippin apple flavors backed by a fresh, mouthwatering finish. Drink now.

The "spicy wine" with its pronounced taste and bouquet epitomizes Alsatian wine. New York's soil and climate, similar to the Rhône and Mosel, provide the perfect foundation for growing this light pink grape with its citrus aroma and flavor. Its distinctive characteristics accentuate equally spicy foods such as Asian cuisine, sausages and pork dishes.

Atwater Estate's 2006 Gewürztraminer is made in the Alsatian-style - low in residual sugar, with a higher alcohol content. Its unmistakable bouquet displays notes of tangerine, rose petals, and grapefruit. Our Gewürztraminer vines are situated on the southwest slope of our farm to maximize solar exposure, which produces a high natural sugar content and raises the alcohol during fermentation.
