Ashton Hills Pinot Noir Piccadilly Valley 2009
This is the least expensive of Stephen George's Pinot's but always punches well above its weight. The 2008 is an absolute gem; think sour cherry and plums with some savoury forest-floor character but what will really blow you away is the impeccable balance and tremendous length of this wine.
This wine worth every penny. For me it's not only one of the best value for money wine from Adelaide hills. It's the truly representation of what can be the Pinot Noir grape in Australie. This grape is not an easy one to produce a great wine and Ashton hill know really how to grow it. Was a pleasure to visit this small and family owned winery, even if it was too hard to collect their wines.
