Ashbourne Red Pinotage 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

The Ashburne Red is the result of Anthony Hamilton Russell's determination to produce a long-lived, fantastic varietal wine from the best known South African red grape, Pinotge, grown on light structured, free-draining, Table Mountain Sandstone derived soils. The name Ashbourne is a family name from Anthony's grandmother's side. Lord Ashbourne, Anthony's great, great grandfather, was Lord Chancellor for Ireland in the late 1800's. Vintage: 2007 Grapes: 100% Pinotage Region: Walker Bay, South Africa Production: 9468 bottles Notes: An excellent example of rich, fruit driven Pinotage. Soft, rich fruit is persistent through to the long finish. Red cherries and dark chocolate, with hints of coffee and toasty oak. Serve: Rich and hearty beef casserole. Springbok with peppercorn sauce. Slow-roasted leg of lamb. ABV: 13.5%
