Ash Hollow Gewürztraminer Dry(2007)
We here at Ash hollow are always trying to convey a since of place and Art Den Hoed's vineyard has done it again for us this year, located just north of Sunnyside this site seems an ideal place to grow Gewürztraminer. This is our third year working with this fruit and we continue to learn how to best express the intensity of the site. The grapes were hand picked and whole cluster pressed then allowed to cold settle for twenty-four hours before inoculating the juice. The fermentation took place in a stainless steel tank and was allowed to go completely dry before stopping secondary fermentation. read more...

- The Alsatian spice that is. This dry Gewurz is really pretty, packed with honeysuckle and pear notes, I think it would pair nicely with Phad Thai or a spicy Yellow Curry. It is slightly effervescent and though it has very little residual sugar, the fruit is so genuine that it tastes slightly sweeter than it is. Chilled, this is a great summer deck wine.

- Peach, tropical fruit and a slight minerality dominate the nose. There are tropical fruit notes of pineapple that lead to a nice finish of sweet peaches, not too sugary. A great introduction to what this grape can do in the bottle.
