What to Expect

Barbaresco is a wine that shares much with its close neighbor Barolo. Both are made with the Nebbiolo grape and from nearly contiguous plots of vines in Piedmont. The slightly warmer climate of Barbaresco, and resulting earlier harvest, makes these wines a touch lighter and less complex than Barolo, if more elegant and earlier maturing. They share much the same flavor profile with their siblings though tend to be less intense.

Editorial Reviews

Sweet and warm on the nose verging on slightly fudgy with pruny fruit then very floral with a real rosy floral tones. Gains an earthy, medicinal, tarry, limestone mineral tone, there is real complexity here. After two hours this turned shockingly feral and earthy with a pinot-like character. That ameliorated with time though the evolution on the nose was drastic. Soft and caressing entry, great acids, nice tannins, more menthol in the mouth with complicating notes of rose stems and slight herbals notes Fresh and balanced with good depth and weight on the mid-palate with dark, rich fruit.
