Artezin Zinfandel Mendocino County the Hess Collection 2006
Winemaker's Notes:
Wine Tasting Notes Deep ruby color. The fruit profile opens with fresh blackberries and blackcherry, followed by ripe raspberry jam. More subtle aromas of currants, licorice, black pepper and spice. Entry on the palate is a burst of berries, followed by spices and ripe fruit sweetness. The mid-palate is smooth and round with elegant tannins and a lush finish. This Dry Creek offering shows that Zinfandel can be sophisticated and elegant and gains complexity with pairing. As such, excellent food pairings include roasted duck, veal, and grilled salmon as well as pastas and subtle-flavored cheeses.

Add your reviewNo acidity, very little tannin, not powerful. On the nose I get leather, cigar box, earthiness. However, if you are buying this wine, make sure you decant it for at least 3 hours. Otherwise, it would taste like regular juice, exactly as is!
Great medium-bodied zin, more juicy than spicy. Quite nuanced for the price. Very good standby zin.
If you appreciate the palates that begin with black cherry and plum flowed effortlessly into zesty spices such as clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, black pepper and allspice you will truly love this Zin. If you are like me and "the nose means everything"...open it up with your Vinturi or allow sufficient time to decant...and OMG inhale with every sip you take! - It's wonderful! For the price...what a delight! The only reason it didn't give it a 5, from PRICE to "OMG I like this" considered - I'm really a full bodied Merlot, Shiraz, Melbac, Munoz lover and as one could expect...this Zin is a tad too sweet for me. But WOW for the price and what I personally like...not bad..not bad at all! WOW.
