What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Winemaking
Our on going heritage and knowledge of sparkling winemaking is put to full use in this wine. This Chardonnay was hand harvested and whole cluster pressed using only the gentlest of sparkling wine methods. This step is critical to give us all of the great fruit flavor developed in the vineyard without any of the harshness that comes from rough handling. This wine was 50% barrel fermented with sur lees stirring and aging and partially stainless steel fermented (also with lees stirring) to achieve a nuanced balance of fruit, lees and barrel character. Complex ripe apple, pear nectar and butterscotch aromas and a touch of nutmeg fill the rich, seductive nose of this Chardonnay. The wine delivers luxurious textures and a host of flavors to the palate, including sweet ripe pear, lemon and apple butter, that persist throughout a long, well-balanced finish.
