Artesa is Napa's newest, most exciting winery. Our architecturally-acclaimed facility opened as Codorniu Napa in 1991, dedicated solely to méthode champenoise sparkling wine production. But in 1997, with the arrival of a world-class winemaker and a $10 million conversion, the winery shifted focus dramatically. Artesa was born with the inaugural release of ultra-premium still wines in September 1999. Artesa (ahr TESS uh) means "craftsman" and connotes "handcrafted" in Catalan, language of Barcelona and our owner, Codorníu, one of the world's largest and oldest wineries. The Codorníu Group actually consists of eight spectacular wineries whose wines are enjoyed daily in over 100 countries around the world. So, while we are Napa's newest, our heritage is rich. We share five centuries of history with 15 generations of a remarkable winemaking family. Read less

Exuberant cassis and raspberry with cedar, nutmeg and dark chocolate. Ample tannin gives it nice structure with the slightest of acid tingle. Should age nicely. Round fruit balanced by tannin and acidity. Very nice and lush. - Tasted at winery 4/22/10

darker, richer than expected for a Cab. no middle astringency. lower notes with full nose of currant and blackberries. hints of mocha, licorice, cassis. holds itself solidly, good body, great finish.

Wonderful notes of Rasberry and smoke on both the nose and the palate. Wonderful finish. Decent structure and layers of flavor very similar to Ridgeline Cabernet...Which Artesa used to own up until June of 2012. A very nice Cabernet from a great vineyard! Artesa know what they are doing. Cheers!

The celebrated Artesa winery is widely acclaimed for producing superb wines from their estate vineyards in Carneros with a focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. What many don't know is that that they also have an estate vineyard in the Atlas Peak District of Napa Valley where they grow exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. Artesa’s Foss Valley Ranch is located on a mountain top at nearly 1,500 feet on the east side of Napa Valley. This picturesque site sits above the fog line and receives ample sunlight while its temperature stays cool throughout growing season. This gives an extra two weeks of hang time and allows grapes to develop a tremendous amount of complexity and nuance. Hence, this Reserve Cabernet which they produce in small quantity (less than 1,000 cases), is without a doubt one of their best wines! 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 18 months in French oak barrels (30% new). Beverage Dynamics scored it 95 points saying "From one of Napa Valley’s Top Flight properties, this Cabernet exhibits dark fruit power; the fermentation and aging in oak contribute spice and structure; a very fine wine, enjoyable now but with potential to age gracefully."

Winemaker Notes - Wonderfully exuberant raspberry, cassis and blackberry fruit is complimented with cedar, clove, nutmeg, dark chocolate and vanilla aromas and flavors. An elegant wine with smooth supple tannins, perfect acid balance and a long, lingering finish. This wine is a treat in its youth, but the joyfulness of the fruit combined with its ample tannin structure means this wine will reach its zenith 10-plus years after release.

The deep intense color of this wine portends the pleasure to follow. Intense ripe cassis and blackberry fruit is enveloped in roasted coffee, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, vanilla, and leather. The ample tannins are silky smooth and mouth filling, making
