Artadi 2002 Strong anise vanilla, deep black cherry, light wood, all on the nose after a ½ hour of air in a decanter. Big wine rich with vanilla, cream, deep rich cherry black cherry, gorgeous lushness. Wow, a lot of depth and more. Opened over an hour and it's still deep and strong. Little bit of an herbal quality with rich fruit and a strong mineral quality that prevades it all. Wow! I must buy more. Fresh ground pepper mixed with the strong cherry quality. Also on the finish a strong plum note makes itself known. c5a12t17o8=92
An elegant fully mature wine with great nuance. Interestingly while enjoyable out of the bottle, it really opened up an hour into being opened though I would still say this wine is ready now for consumption. 4/5 [NR]

Dunkles Kirschrot. Viel Potential!
Dunkles Purpur-Rot. In der Nase Toastnoten, Veilchen, schwarze Kirschen, Heidelbeeren. Am Gaumen sehr konzentriert, blumig, fruchtig, sehr schöne Struktur, reife Tannine, elegant und gehaltvoll. Ein langes, aromatisches Finish.

If this wine were inserted in a blind tasting of 1999 grand cru red Burgundies, many tasters would think it was a Musigny, a wine that sells for $200ndash;$500 a bottle. But this Musigny look-alike is priced at a mere $18. It is made from 100% Tempranillo harvested at yields of 35 hectoliters per hectare (much less than many grand cru red Burgundy vineyards), with a 14-month upbringing in French oak (similar to most grand cru red Burgundies). It boasts a deep, opaque ruby color in addition to gorgeously well-delineated aromas of spring flowers, sweet black cherries, raspberries, and minerals. The wine is elegant, medium-bodied, lush, sweet, and well-balanced with purity, graciousness, and vibrancy. This impeccably made Rioja will drink well for a decade.
Thick and rich. Resembles a ripe California red more than a traditional Rioja in color, body and tannin. Smoky, gamy flavors are a bit clumsy, but a plummy core keeps it in balance. Try in 2000.
Bright ruby-red. Complex, musky aromas of creme de mure, currant, licorice and pepper. Sweet, supple and densely packed, with fruit-driven flavors of black raspberry and licorice. Finishes with substantial but thoroughly ripe tannins. A very strong vintage for Artadirsquo;s entry-level Rioja.
92 points Peñín Guide: (100% tempranillo). Colour: bright cherry. Nose: sweet spices, creamy oak, red berry notes, ripe fruit. Palate: flavourful, fruity, toasty, round tannins. (2013) 91 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): (100% tempranillo): Vivid ruby. Assertive red fruit and floral scents are brightened by a minerally nuance. Spicy, penetrating and gently sweet, offering bitter cherry and raspberry flavors and a touch of rose. The long finish features gentle tannic grip and very good spicy lift, leaving a cherry pit note behind. (Sep/Oct 2013)
