($500) Good deep color. Much less forthcoming on the nose than the Suchots. Silky and creamy-sweet in the mouth but in a shell today, with surprising acidity and freshness for a 2003. Very rich, backward grand cru, finishing with full tannins. This will almost certainly merit a higher score with seven or eight years of cellaring.

Interestingly, this is presently more expressive than the Suchots with an elegantly spicy black fruit nose and flavors that are bigger and richer but not necessarily finer but there is certainly more complexity and outstanding length. This is an extremely impressive wine that will live for 20 years, perhaps longer.
