Food Pairings for Ariel Merlot
Winemaker notes make it sound like this is regular wine with the alcohol filtered out at the last minute. However, the wine bottle ingredients list water as the first ingredient! Also contains grape juice concentrate and other fruit juice concentrates. Label also says to refrigerate after opening. No mention of grapes used in the "wine" on the label. I'd say this vineyard has a big credibility gap. Taste was pretty bad. I would consider only if drinking alcohol is a problem. I would label this some sort of wine/fruit juice combo product.
VARIETALAril Rouge is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah, carefully chosen from California appellation vineyards. Grapes are selected that show good aroma, balance and adequate tannins for aging.WINEMAKINGAril Rouge is fermented and aged in the traditional red wine method: fermentation in stainless steel cooperage on the skins at temperatures above 75F (24C) for optimum color extraction and complexity of aromas and tannins. Some of the finished wine is oak aged for additional complexity. Just prior to bottling, the alcohol is gently removed by cold filtration.WINEMAKER NOTESAril Rouge offers aromas of cranberry, strawberry and plum, with soft tannins and a dry finish. It is at its optimum maturity one year after bottling, but can be opened immediately or held up to five years before enjoying. Enjoy Aril Rouge with beef, lamb and red sauce dishes.Ethanol: < 0.5% by volumeVarietal Profile: 75% Cabernet Sauvignon; 25% other redsServing Size: 100 ml = 3.38 ouncesCalories/Serving: approximately 20Cases Produced:7,000
