This lower entry from Argiolas does not disappoint. This medium bodied Red is what I call a mid-world wine...not over the top fruit driven but more balanced, with surprising tannins. This is my top value wine...I buy it buy the case for when non wine drinkers show up but very good for true wine drinkers.

If this is the 25th anniversary bottle it was amazing. The appeal was similar to 100% Cabernet/ HBPeterson. 100pt. Balance and best.

Quite possibly the Biggest Super Tuscan I've tasted. At it's best for Napa and McLaren Vale fans. Thanks Argiolas.! ps. It's not a super Tuscan.

I was stationed in Sarinia and fell in love with their wines, especially the Cannonau varieties. While I never had a bad glass of Sardinian wine, even the pitchers at the Mom and Pop bistros that were vintage dated "Last Wednesday" were delicious pared with food, the Argiolas Costera was my favorite. A simple unpretentious, yet full bodied red that is best if allowed to breathe a bit. Try it with Pasta Arribiata (zitti in red pepper sauce), or Filet di Pepe ( filet mignion with a creamy green peppercorn sauce). You'll enjoy it all the way through the cheese course (aged Peccorino Romano). It is said that Americans see food as fuel, the French see food as Art, Italians see food as Life, at least the part worth living. This wine goes well with Life.

Blend: 90% Cannonau, 5% Carignano and 5% Bovale Sardo. The intense, ruby red color of this wine tends toward orange with age. The full bouquet of sweet black cherry, pepper, and licorice is typical of the Cannonau grape. Warm and full bodied on the palate with excellent texture, ripe fruit flavors and pleasant tannins. Costera is an excellent food wine that is best enjoyed with roast beef with herbs, filet mignon, stews and sharp cheeses.

This is made from the Cannonau grape - better known to some as the Grenache grape variety. This is a rich wine that tastes of the south in all it's leather and dark-berried fruit. The tannins are just right and mildly spiced with aromas of nutmeg.

Made from the Sardinian grape called Cannonau (Grenache), offers a dark plum color, and earthy, smoked herb, pepper, and cherry jam aromas. In the mouth, this is a broadly-textured wine with meaty, beef blood, smoky charcoal-like flavors, medium body, and a lusty, exuberant, heady finish. It is a hedonistic, delicious, full-flavored red to drink over the next 4-5 years.

The 1999 Costera is primarily made from the indigenous Cannonau grape (believed to be a kissing cousins of Grenache). It sees a touch of new French oak. The wine is dense, chewy, full-bodied, layered, and seamless with sweet kirsch liqueur notes intermixed with licorice and vanilla. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.
