User Reviews for Argiolas Costamolino Vermentino di Sardegna
Add your review3/5/13 Fairly aromatic..lemon cream, tropical fruit (pineapple, banana), antiseptic, conventional grocery store edible multicolored and white flowers. Tastes like pear, 1% milk consistency (would be higher but has light but fresh acidity). Banana leaf tea, semi old almond, honestly kind of flabby. Good fresh fruit front to mid palate but no residual sugar. Powdered lemonade concentrate very watered down and slightly sweetened with honey background flavors. I say 86+ but very easy appeal. Would be nice with spicy food no question or as a quaff able semi rich food(s) wine.

Clean, fresh and fruity, this is a real waker-upper. Pineapple and grapefruit flavors carry right through to the long finish. On the palate, lively acids, good balance and a lush mouthfeel provide more than adequate support. A great apéritif, or have it with grilled lobster.
I'm not sure the 2001 Costamolino (100% tank-fermented and aged Vermentino) is not outstanding. A glorious perfume of flowers, white fruits, flint, and almond paste is followed by a medium-bodied offering with lovely richness, an exotic personality, and a long, pure, fresh finish that lasts for nearly 30 seconds. This is a remarkably sophisticated, surprisingly complex, fruit-driven white with a compelling personality. Drink it over the next year.
Light gold in color, with chamomile and lemon character on the nose. Full-bodied, with medium acidity and flavors of dried apple and pear. Drink now.
Right now, the slight spritz that gives this wine its zip is just a little too prominent. The pear and peach fruit tinged with bitter almond is fresh enough to stand on its own; this wine should taste broader and smoother in another six months. Drink now with raw shellfish or as a patio wine; pair it with delicate chicken and fish dishes down the road.
The irresistible 2006 Vermentino di Sardegna Costamolino is made in a very pure, nuanced style, with plenty of detail to balance its generous fruit. This gorgeous white offers outstanding length and notable harmony. It is far from your typical Vermentino. I actually preferred it slightly to the estate's more important Is Argiolas bottling. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2008.
Winemaker's Notes:
Costamolino is straw yellow in color with green highlights and an intense yet delicate bouquet that displays distinct varietal characteristics. Supple aromas of citrus, pineapple, tropical fruits and honey are wonderfully supported by a zesty acidity. Delicate and pleasantly refreshing on the palate, Costamolino is the wine of choice for many dishes, from fish antipasti and pastas to vegetables terrine, salads, white meat casseroles, and risotto. Delicious with Asian food and sushi.
