Argiano Supertuscan Blend Toscana IGT Non Confunditur 2006

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

The 2007 Non Confunditur reveals a darker profile than the Rosso in its grilled herbs, licorice, dark berries and French oak. The wine shows outstanding length and finessed tannins. This is another lovely bottle from Argiano, and a terrific value. Non Confunditur is 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot and 20% Syrah. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2012.

Offers an interesting combination of currant, raspberry and meat on the nose. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a spicy dried fruit aftertaste. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese and Syrah. Best after 2011.

Here's a modern, mature wine with baked blackberry notes at the beginning that are followed by white pepper and exotic spice. There's an attractively spicy quality to this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese that gives the wine a sharp, focused feel despite the ripeness of the fruit. Great price too.

The 2006 Non Confunditur is fat and super-ripe in its expression of dark plums, cherries, smoke, tar, herbs and licorice. It offers notable harmony and best of all, is a terrific value. Drink this fat, silky-textured red over the next few years. Non Confunditur is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot and 20% Syrah aged for 12 months in used French oak barrels and larger casks. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2016.

Argiano makes a wide range of wines from its 48 hectares of vineyards in the southern part of the Brunello zone. The estate's 2004 Non Confunditur (60% Cabernet, 20% Sangiovese and 20% Syrah) demonstrates the superior qualities of the 2004 vintage. Classic Cabernet notes dominate the balance of this full-bodied wine, which presents attractive aromatics and plenty of sweet jammy fruit with excellent length, fine overall balance and lingering spicy notes on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2012.

Cocoa and vanilla scents of oak meld with the simple red berry flavors of this wine in a thick rag, for beef braised in tomato sauce.

Aromas of currant and fresh herbs. Full-bodied, with soft tannins and a medium finish. Slightly one-dimensional, but shows character. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese. Best after 2007.
