Argiano Solengo Toscana IGT 2009
Although not a huge fan of Italian wines....This is a great wine. Wonderful deep purple color and a very interesting nose. Not the typical dirty smell or taste of many Tuscan wines. Wonderful with food or as a stand alone wine. Don't miss this one!

The estate’s 2009 Solengo bursts from the glass with blackberries, ash, grilled herbs, licorice and new leather. This blend of 30% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Petit Verdot and 20% Syrah aged in French oak fared much better in 2009 than the 100% Sangioveses. All the elements flow together gracefully in this soft, voluptuous wine. The finessed, silky tannins elevate the 2009 even further. This is a terrific showing from Argiano. Anticipated maturity: 2017–2029.
There’s no shortage of new oak here, yet this red is very fresh and vibrant, which helps lift the black currant and black cherry flavors to center stage. The firm tannins lend support without being intrusive, with a long aftertaste of sweet fruit and spice. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Syrah. Best from 2014 through 2023.
