Argiano Solengo 2015

External Review:

An intense, fruit-filled red, showing a smoky cast to the cherry, licorice, herbal and spice flavors, with a fine, lingering aftertaste. Though bracing, this is also solidly tannic and needs time for all the elements to integrate. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2017 through 2027.

Although not a huge fan of Italian wines....This is a great wine. Wonderful deep purple color and a very interesting nose. Not the typical dirty smell or taste of many Tuscan wines. Wonderful with food or as a stand alone wine. Don't miss this one!

Amazing blend from an amazing producer of Brunello. This Super-Tuscan is well rounded and flavorful. I've never had a bottle disliked. Overall complimentary to most Italian food and cheeses.

absolutely delicious, nice subtle layers of flavors, no heat, oaky with nice fruit that sort of lingered on the palate

Ripe, earthy mushroom nose, with some black cherry. Refined. Fairly tannic, medium acid, medium+ body. Still an ager? Black currant. Food wine, but ok straight. A little one-dimensional for the price. $63

The 2011 Solengo is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petit Verdot, 10% Syrah and 10% Merlot. It opens with deep, dark intensity and shows plush layers of sweet clove, ripe fruit and cherry liqueur. This is a modern, proud wine that should last ten years or more. Drink: 2017–2028.

There’s no shortage of new oak here, yet this red is very fresh and vibrant, which helps lift the black currant and black cherry flavors to center stage. The firm tannins lend support without being intrusive, with a long aftertaste of sweet fruit and spice. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Syrah. Best from 2014 through 2023.

The estate’s 2009 Solengo bursts from the glass with blackberries, ash, grilled herbs, licorice and new leather. This blend of 30% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Petit Verdot and 20% Syrah aged in French oak fared much better in 2009 than the 100% Sangioveses. All the elements flow together gracefully in this soft, voluptuous wine. The finessed, silky tannins elevate the 2009 even further. This is a terrific showing from Argiano. Anticipated maturity: 2017–2029.

Turley?s 2010 Zinfandel Ueberroth Vineyard, from one of the top sites in Paso Robles, strikes a gorgeous stylistic middle ground. Complex and beautiful, the 2010 possesses gorgeous mid-palate pliancy while remaining light on its feet. Blackberries, plums

Full and velvety, with so much cassis and sweet tobacco on the nose and palate. A little hard on the long finish. But should open with bottle age. To be released spring 2011. Best after 2012. 750 cases made.

($78) Shows black pepper, blackberry and mulberry aromas. Full-bodied, dense and rich, with seamless tannins and a silky, polished texture. Impressive length and structure. Built for aging. Reminiscent of the 1999. Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, S... Wine Spectator. A Proprietary Blend wine from Tuscany in Italy. 2006 Argiano Solengo IGT 750ml
