Archery Summit Pinot Noir Ribbon Ridge 2006
"The 2006 Pinot Noir Arcus Estate is dark ruby-colored with floral notes, fennel, black cherry, and black raspberry. The most structured of these wines, it also has savory flavors, excellent depth, and a fruit-filled finish. It will be at its peak from 2012 to 2020. Archery Summit is composed of 120 acres, all estate, and produces 15,000 cases annually. The Premier Cuvee bottling is typically 50-60% of the winery’s total production....91" 11/08
Wine of the Tasting! But, of course I expected this. At $100/bottle, definitely a pass for me, but this is a HUGE Pinot! Heavy tannins, oakey, but with big fruit under the tannins that shines through. This one is very very young, and needs a good 5-10 years to really show its stuff.
This is very good Pinot Noir by any measure. Loads of black fruit and cherries on the entry with a full mouthfeel. Tannins give it a long good finnish. At about $90 a bottle, I would pass on this one. Many other Oregon Pinots that are just as good, or even better, go for $40 to $75

The 2006 Arcus Estate opens with intense fl oral and fruit aromas of violet and rose petal, fresh blackcherry and red currant. The palate is generous, confectionary and concentrated with notes of black cherries and raspberries, staranise and mulling spices. Saturated with fruit on the palate, this wine shows great depth and succulence with plush, integratedtannins and persisting notes of fl oral spice and fresh berries. Expressive and concentrated, the 2006 Arcus Estate is open andvibrant now, however may improve with proper cellaring over the next 3-8 years.
