What next from winemaker Philippe Bornard? Why not a late harvest Savagnin? It’s a non-oxidative style, not quite sweet yet not quite dry. This bronze-colored wine has a nose of apricot nectar and roast figs with an undertone of smokiness, the palate is honeyed with fleshy fruits before the Savagnin nuttiness takes over with flavors of roasted cumin seed and plenty of acidity. A joy with a creamy crab risotto.
