This is minty and green on the nose with a vigorous leafy element that recalls carrot tops adding complexity to the oak inflected cedar and coffee notes on the nose. There’s a nice bed of fruit lurking underneath with crisp, candied red cherry tones. Broad on entry with very soft tannins and moderate acidity supporting fresh, chewy, almost grapy fruit. The mid-palate seems some nice spicy tones added to the red berry fruit that turns a bit more raspberry scented in the mouth and gains a nice minty edge. On the finish the very well managed tannins reveal themselves as they drive the lightly fruity final. All around a fairly typical Alexander Valley Cabernet that combine a rich, soft feel with red fruit and herbal elements. I would like to see a bit better focus on the mid-palate, but this is complete and enjoyable 89pts

This is a previous Gold Medal Wine Club Selection. The Alexander Valley Cabernet is Arbios Cellars’ flagship wine, and what a fabulous wine it is! Grapes for this wine come from a single vineyard at high elevation at the northern end of the valley. 90 Points, says Wine Enthusiast— “You’ll like this wine for its easy drinkability. The texture is soft and luscious, with rich, fine tannins. Flavors of black currants, mocha and sweet spices entice the palate. Shows complexity and finesse throughout.” The Beverage Tasting Institute chimed in with a Highly Recommended rating. The Wine Spectator touted Arbios Cellars as a “promising new name in California Cabernet Sauvignon,” describing the 2000 Arbios Cabernet as, “Graceful, with fine balance to the currant, cherry, and roasted herb nuances. Toasty oak, olive and modest tannins.” 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Green pepper, cinnamon, clover and raspberry on the nose. Ripe raspberries and nutmeg dominate in the flavor department, with a finish that reminds me of whiskey and eggnog... a smooth, sweet, spicy linger. This will delight any cab lover, especially you Napa fans who don't want to spend $100+ for a bottle!
