Aramis Shiraz Mclaren Vale Black Label 2003

Member Review by Ruski:

Had the 2003 vintage tonight (30 Jan, 2011). Dark red, layers of dark berries, licorice and fruit, note of chocolate, vanilla, pepper. Still tight tannins, somewhat alcoholic. Well balanced in terms of fruit, oak and acidity and has a powerful mid palate. Needs time to open up in the glass. This wine would probably age very well from here on for another 3-5 years.

Aramis Vineyards- Multi-Award Winning Wine, 100% McLaren Vale, Family owned & Estate Grown Aramis Vineyards wine is synonymous with premium wines from South Australia’s McLaren Vale wine region being awarded over 80 medals in International and Australian Wine shows in recent years. Our vineyards in McLaren Vale are planted on their own rootstock in some of the world’s oldest mineral rich soils and in the most temperate of Mediterranean climates. The Aramis Vineyards consistently produces excellent fruit quality from low yielding vines. Only the best parcels of fruit are carefully selected throughout the vineyard and utilized in the Aramis Vineyards label. Great attention to detail with the integration of fruit flavours and fine oak barrels helps produce classic handcrafted wine styles. Lee Flourentzou, the General Manager of Aramis Vineyards, has pursued his passion to produce rich and intensely flavoured red wines. He purchased a 70 acre plot of land, 7 km outside of the township of McLaren Vale back in 1998. He now has 64 acres planted, the majority of which is dedicated Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon vines. A selection of the finest barrels, the 2003 Syrah The Governor reveals toasty new oak along with abundant blackberry, blueberry, and licorice notes, and hints of camphor and flowers. Full-bodied, dense, and rich, it will benefit from 1-2 more years of bottle age, and should last for a decade or more. Inky purple. Sexy aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, violet and vanilla custard, complicated by spicy oak. Theres big-time oak going on, but also plenty of ripe, luscious dark berry fruit that verges on liqueur-like. Fat, broad and sweet on the finish, the oak spice coming up strong. Theres clearly great material and sex appeal here, and the oak is plenty suave, but Id love to see it ratcheted down a notch. ** Only 19 in Stock **

The Governor Shiraz 2003 - Aramis: The Governor Shiraz 2003 - Rotwein von AramisIm Glas leuchtet der Aramis The Governor Shiraz 2003 schwarz, rot und purpurn.
