Apex Ascent Columbia Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2010
Bright aromatics of guava, gooseberry and lemon grass grab you immediately. A zesty and refreshing palate with continued citrus notes, followed by star fruit and Anjou pears. A beautifully balanced Sauvignon Blanc with perfect acidity that lead to a hint of pineapple on the finish.
Washington might not jump into your head when you hear Sauv Blanc but when you think about it, the fact that it shares so many characteristics of Bordeaux, it should. Wonderful balance, lots of lemon zest, gooseberry, and hints of more tropical fruits and just a tiny touch of grass. Acid is right where it ought to be to complement the richer fruits of this wine. A best value SB.
Food Pairings for Apex Ascent Columbia Valley Sauvignon Blanc
Grapefruit and gooseberry scents and flavors mark this as a New Zealand-style Sauvignon Blanc, and a very good one at that. The acidity carries the fruit, and brings a zesty freshness to the finish. Some suggestions of stone and spice liven it up. All stainless, and 100% varietal. - P.G. WE 90pts
