What to Expect

Carmenère is one of a small group of wines that thrives in its adopted land but struggles to gain acceptance at home. It still is used on occasion in France's Bordeaux region where it adds color and complexity to blends with its distinctive mélange of smoky, herbal and gamy tones. In South America, particularly Chile, it ripens fully and the wines take on added layers of dark berry fruit that gives it a balance rarely achieved in France.

Winemakers Notes

Made from 100% Carmenère grapes, this wine shows a spicy, plummy nose, and ripe, berryish fruit on the palate. Minimal intervention and gentle handling have been used to preserve the quality and character of the fruit. This wine is an impressive introduction to the Carmenère grape, and a very good value.

Reviews

Carmenère lovers take note. This is a great value. Big fruit, with lots of berry and a it of smoke. very nice. My wife is not someone to gush about wine. but I had a bottle of this open and she tried a glass and loved it. We'll be keeping this around for a while.
