/ If you like yours big and burly, this 14.6% Syrah (with 12% Cabernet) is dark and luxe, with good natural acidity to balance out the alcohol and untamed plum, berry jam and chocolate flavors. A forceful wine with no dead weight.
The Oeno File - Best wines tasted in 2006/ Luscious wine created from grapes grown on Ninquen Mountain in Chile's Colchagua Valley. A brooding, rich purple color. nose: very spicy with black and white pepper, saddle leather, cigarbox and clove with hints of ripe black fruit and vanilla from the oak. Full-bodied, harmonious. well structured mellow tannins. Intense fruit leading to a long finish. An excellent wine with heavier meats and game.
/ The 2005 Antu Ninquen Syrah has 12% Cabernet Sauvignon added to the blend. The wine was aged for 18 months in French and American oak before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. Purple-colored, the wine offers a spicy perfume of pepper, leather, earth and blackberry. Firmly structured, this full-bodied wine has good flavors and balance but will require several years in the bottle to fully express itself.
Antu Ninquen Syrah 2007 - 90 Points, Wine Enthusiast/ This wine seems to get better each year. The 2007 is potent and minty on the nose, with big fruit and pastry accents. After it settles it delivers rich, deep, dark flavors with herb, mint, spice, pepper and cardamon accents. Intriguing New World Syrah. Big and lusty.
/ Our reviews fro this fruit-bomb of a Syrah have been consistent over the years. The wine is intense and grapy, and it gives your palate a pounding as it delivers boysenberry and other rich black-fruit flavors. Heavy oak treatment results in coffee and chocolate on the back end. Good in a muscular way, but would benefit from more refinement and structure.
/ A juicy, plush, forward style, with lots of blackberry and black cherry fruit laced with mocha, mineral and briar notes. Drink now through 2008.
