Editorial Reviews for Antoniolo Gattinara Osso San Grato
This opens with strong notes of mineral and leather as well as nuanced pine forest floor and old parchment. Then the nose is gripped by the sent of crumbling, wet red slate. With time the nose gains freshness and adds wonderful notes of ice, earth and flowers. In the mouth one is greeted by a strong menthol note right up front then a wave of roasted red berry fruit that is almost syruppy coats the palate before drying out a bit leaving the initial finish with a touch of must. This remains very vibrant if compressed for quite some time. It turns very linear and focused in the mouth with a jewel like core of dark, tarry and anise tinged fruit yet does reamin a bit tough and drying on the finish. Beginning it's down slope this should be consumed sooner rather than later. 2008-2012.
