Antoniolo Gattinara 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

90 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): The 2008 Gattinara caresses the palate with sweet red cherries, herbs, tobacco and anise, all in a medium-bodied style that is highly appealing. There is plenty of 2008 vibrancy and freshness in the glass. This is a terrific showing from Antoniolo, and a great introduction to Gattinara. The 2008 is also unusually polished for this wine. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018. (Oct 2012)

It opens with a solid blast of fruit, but never gets too fruity from there. The French oak, while not overly intrusive, does appear to accentuate the finish. Fantastic Nebbiolo from Piedmont.
