Antonio Vallana E Figlio Spanna Colline Novaresi Montalbano/Casa Rosa Maggiore Piedmont 2009

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Liquory and wild aromas of red currant, wild plum, thistle, and flowers greet the nose. On entry this shows a little bit of heft and richness before turning leaner with firm acid and fine dusty tannins that cover the palate. There’s a nice burst of red plum skin acidity, with nice depth on the midpalate to the fruit, and a succulent mineral dusted finish that is sapid and almost salty. Not terribly complex but this does offer lovely fruit and a great, if slightly rustic texture. 88pts
