Antinori "Villa Antinori" Chianti Classico Riserva 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

"The 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva Villa Antinori sees fruit sourced from different sites across the appellation. It is almost all Sangiovese with a tiny percentage of Merlot to flesh it out or give it thicker contours. This wine was not produced in 2014. It was first introduced in 2011, so this is only the fourth vintage of its existence. The bouquet delivers round and supple fruit tones with blackberry and summer cherry at the front. You then get that signature crunchiness or freshness that is derived from the acidity found in Sangiovese. However, the finish is not sharp. This wine ends with soft, velvety tannins. You get very good value here."- Monica Larner, _Wine Advocate_ *(91 points)*September 2018

Villa Antinori is a prominent wine estate in Tuscany, Italy. Wine has been produced by the Antinori family since they came to Florence in the 14th century. The family estate, Palazzo Antinori, was purchased in Tuscany in 1506, and later that century, banker and merchant Alessandro Antinori began to produce the wines made there commercially. Generations later, in 1928, Marquis Niccolò Antinori officially created the Villa Antinori brand, with the intention of producing an elegant Chianti fit for longevity. The wine was soon found in the cellars and on the tables of of some of the most prestigious houses, restaurants and hotels. In 1931, Villa Antinori began producing a white wine from Trebbiano, and in the 1980s, Chardonnay was added to the blend for elegance. In 2001, the estate added the production of Super Tuscans to their growing portfolio. In addition to table wines, Villa Antinori also produces sparkling wines, grappa and olive oil.  Read less

Intense red fruit aromas, especially redcurrants and raspberries, are amplified by light hints of vanilla and coffee sensations. This full-bodied wine is pleasantly lingering with soft, sweet tannins. It should be drunk while still young for full expression of the fruit.

Crafted from 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot, the 2010 Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva is intense ruby red in color with fruit and spice aromas. Light touches from the oak aging underscore the cherry and red berry notes that are typical of the Sangi

A thick, extracted style, displaying impressive cherry and blackberry flavors. Spice elements chime in on the burly finish. Drink now through 2018.

Sangiovese with 10% Merlot, the 2010 Chianti Classico Riserva Villa Antinori opens with a two-fold delivery of espresso grits and pressed red rose that give this wine a rather unique personality. The mouthfeel is bright and well-defined with cherry and dried raspberry that do a lot to sharpen the mouthfeel of this balanced Chianti Classico Riserva. Anticipated maturity: 2014–2022.
