Antinori Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva 2012

Winemaker's Notes:

"The 2012 Chianti Classico Riserva Villa Antinori is Sangiovese that has been enhanced by small percentages of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Fruit is sourced from the various properties owned by the Antinori family in the Chianti Classico appellation such as Badia a Passignano, Tenuta Tignanello and Peppoli. The family just bought a new property called San Sano near Castello di Ama and some of that fruit was used here too. This wine shows very nice ripeness with luscious, dark fruit flavors backed by spice and leather."- Wine Advocate

Generations later, in 1928, Marquis Niccolò Antinori officially created the Villa Antinori brand, with the intention of producing an elegant Chianti fit for longevity. The wine was soon found in the cellars and on the tables of of some of the most prestigious houses, restaurants and hotels. In 1931, Villa Antinori began producing a white wine from Trebbiano, and in the 1980s, Chardonnay was added to the blend for elegance. In 2001, the estate added the production of Super Tuscans to their growing portfolio. In addition to table wines, Villa Antinori also produces sparkling wines, grappa and olive oil.  Read less
