Antinori Rosso 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

The unique blends of grapes in this wine results in silkiness and fruit purity. A brilliant, yellow-green wine with a floral, apple complexity on the nose, intensely fruity and elegant, and a harmonious, soft mouthfeel.

Villa Antinori is a prominent wine estate in Tuscany, Italy. Wine has been produced by the Antinori family since they came to Florence in the 14th century. The family estate, Palazzo Antinori, was purchased in Tuscany in 1506, and later that century, banker and merchant Alessandro Antinori began to produce the wines made there commercially. Generations later, in 1928, Marquis Niccolò Antinori officially created the Villa Antinori brand, with the intention of producing an elegant Chianti fit for longevity. The wine was soon found in the cellars and on the tables of of some of the most prestigious houses, restaurants and hotels. In 1931, Villa Antinori began producing a white wine from Trebbiano, and in the 1980s, Chardonnay was added to the blend for elegance. In 2001, the estate added the production of Super Tuscans to their growing portfolio. In addition to table wines, Villa Antinori also produces sparkling wines, grappa and olive oil.  Read less

Love this Paso Robles Rhone white blend. Loads of tongue coating layers, ripe pear, peach, clove, spice, white chocolate, fantastic balance and a long finish.

Well this is probably the firs time I give an absolute score to wine. Unlike most Italian wines this one has a huge tight aroma full of dark red fruits (thanks to merlot probably)! fullbodied, expressive wine with long aftertaste. This is perfectly balanced wine for a good price. I just love it! There was also a label on the bottle says "it's perfect for cheese and appetizers" (check pictures)... and I would say the best pairing for this wine is hard cheese.

The wine opens with a ruby red color with violet tinges. It has a full and intense fragrance with hints of red fruit which bring to mind cherries and raspberries. On the palate the wine is smooth and well-balanced. The finish is characterized by gentle tannins and the persistent flavor of the grapes which make is so delicious and easy to drink. -The Winery

Tastes like a Pinot Grigio. Not bad but not interesting either. Usual pear flavor. Thin bodied.

Dark, rich color. On the nose there is floral blackberry and black currant with a hint of chocolate. Dry and earthy, on the palate, with a hint of old wood and a note of leather that emerges with air. Full bodied and structured.

In contrast to the La Riotte where the bouquet was nicely recovered from the bottling and the palate was agitated the Bel Air was still fairly closed from the recent bottling but the wine had snapped nicely back into focus on the palate. As I observed last year the Taupenots parcel in the premier cru of Bel Air are thirty years of age and these vines are now really starting to hit on all cylinders. The reticent nose on the 2011 offers up scents of red and black cherries gamebirds cocoa nutskins lovely soil tones and a touch of cedar. On the palate the wine is back on form after the mise delivering lovely focus and balance in its full-bodied format with ripe tannins tangy acids and a very good core of fruit. This will be lovely. 2021-2050. John Gilman.

A traditional, complex Syrah in the style of a northern Rhône, featuring lots of layers of earth and spice. The dense black fruit is perfectly balanced by mushroom, white pepper and smoky bacon notes.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2011 Angel’s Share Shiraz offers intense blue and black fruit notes with nuances of black pepper, licorice and chocolate. The palate provides a good concentration of youthful peppered fruit with a medium level of rounded tannins and crisp acidity, finishing with medium to long persistence. Drink it now through 2016+.

Ribera del Duero, SpainTineta Ribera del Duero is a gorgeous red of 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) from Bodegas Ordonez (also referred to as Bodegas Avante.) It comes from the famed Ribera del Duero region, where the Duero River has carved its path to the sea through the high central plateau of Spain, leaving behind alluvial soils. The vineyard source for Tineta is El Carril, where the soil is gravel, sand and clay chalk. The combination of poor soils, harsh climate and high elevation produces a grape with extraordinary depth of dark fruit flavors. This wine received a 91-point rating from Robert Parker, who called it "juicy, succulent and sensual." We call it a great red wine gem! Tineta Ribera del Duero is dark ruby/purple in color with a beautiful bouquet of blackberry, black currant, plum, and smoke. Medium-full in body with silky tannins, the palate offers rich flavors of blackberries, plums and spice. It is well balanced to enjoy now and over the next 4-5 years. The wine lingers impressively on the finish.Enjoy Tineta with roast pork, grilled lamb chops, steak, paella, and aged cheeses.
