Antinori Peppoli Chianti Classico Halves An Selection of Wines Or Other Items Italy Tuscany Chianti Classico Sangiovese. Merlot and Syrah 2008

The nose showed dusty potpourri with fresh crushed cranberry, cinnamon stick, and dark bakers chocolate. On the palate, it was medium bodied with a high level of acidity pushing dry yet intense red fruit and mocha. The finish was long on the palate with some drying tannin and lots of dry red fruit extract. I was a little on the fence with this wine but it opened up nicely after a couple hours open in bottle. Once it started to show a little body on the palate, the dry red fruits and high acidity became more and more tolerable.
Excellent quality/price ratio. Nice acidity with hints of mocha and smashed berry!
Spicy solid Chianti. Fairly priced.

Intense aromas of juicy red berries, with hints of vanilla and chocolate. Peppoli has great structure and a lively acidity which highlights the fresh fruit flavors characteristic of the 2008 vintage. Elegant and gentle tannins give this wine a long, lingering finish. Enjoy while young, when the fruit is most expressive.
From Antinori comes this ripe, forward Chianti Classico. Wine Spectator scored it 90 points saying "Offers floral, ripe black fruit aromas and a delicate chocolate powder note. Full-bodied, with soft, silky tannins and plenty of fruit on the finish. Fruity and very pretty."
Exotic, offering red berry, floral and mineral notes backed by a vibrant structure. Tightly wound, with a firm finish. Best from 2013 through 2020. 18,000 cases imported. -BS
The wine is ruby red in color with aromas of ripe red fruit and well amalgamated notes of vanilla and coffee. The palate enjoys a notable support from the acidity, which maintains a pleasurable freshness and persistence of flavor along with soft and sweet tannins which guarantee excellent drinkability.
