Antinori Chianti Superiore Santa Cristina 2007
Wine Tasting Notes Fruity, crisp and fresh, this Tuscan red offers straight forward, accessible flavors and aromas for daily enjoyment.~It crosses between old world and new; fruity yet with the leaner structure typical of Italian wines.~Santa Cristina is crafted from a range of vineyards across the Tuscan hills, yielding a wine of ruby red color with an intense bouquet of cherry/berry fruits.~Well structured and harmonious on the palate, with soft, sweet tannins.
The Sangiovese was a dark purple, it had hint of black cherry in the bouquet and on the mid pallet. We had bowtie pasta with mushrooms, asparagus, roasted pepper and onions. The wine went very well with this dish. The Sangiovese could have been drank alone or with cheese and crackers. I would buy this wine again; it is a good value for the dollar.
This is a wonderfully easy-to-drink red. I can't call it complex (it's not) but it's tasty and round and goes really well with inexpensive pasta sauce.
Excellent bottle especially for the price . . . Tannin lovers will not find much here to stick to their gums, but the intense rasberry, depth, and smoothe finish make this a very good choice over so so so many others! The 10% Merlot is just right and gives it the right balance. Highly recommend.
Great value...nice taste, easy to drink with cheese or other.....recommended for the price point, great price is $8.09 by the case, $8.99-$13.00 otherwise.
