Antinori Chardonnay Castello Della Sala Bramito del Cervo 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

Castello della Sala stands on a rocky promontory (about 1500 ft. above sea level) in the Umbrian Apennines not far from the border with Tuscany, about 18km from the historical town of Orvieto. Pale golden in color with gold hints. Green apple layered with light honey, spice and floral aromas lead to flavors of pie crust, light vanilla with a subtle toasty quality. The wine is always fresh with its racy, citrus-like acidity.

The family estate, Palazzo Antinori, was purchased in Tuscany in 1506, and later that century, banker and merchant Alessandro Antinori began to produce the wines made there commercially. Generations later, in 1928, Marquis Niccolò Antinori officially created the Villa Antinori brand, with the intention of producing an elegant Chianti fit for longevity. The wine was soon found in the cellars and on the tables of of some of the most prestigious houses, restaurants and hotels. In 1931, Villa Antinori began producing a white wine from Trebbiano, and in the 1980s, Chardonnay was added to the blend for elegance. In 2001, the estate added the production of Super Tuscans to their growing portfolio. In addition to table wines, Villa Antinori also produces sparkling wines, grappa and olive oil.  Read less
