Anglim Viognier Santa Maria Valley Bien Nacido Vineyard 2007

Member Review by vin0vin0:

Fantastic Paso viognier. Lemon chiffon right at the start, nice acidity that hits on the side of the tongue, loads of bright citrus fruit extremely well balanced with the moderate (14%) alcohol.

We realize that stellar wines begin in the vineyard, and are passionate about sourcing the finest fruit for Anglim wines. Our limited case production of 3,500 cases a year allows us to handcraft our wines in small lots with a combination of tradition and innovation. We use 100 percent French oak, but manage the new oak percentages to create wines with a balanced style, and enough character to be cellared but enough elegance to be enjoyed now. Read less

Another great viognier, this one rounder and riper than the Fralich. Appealing honeydew and floral aromas and flavors.

Bright aromas of peach and nectarine that carry through to the palate. Very soft but rich mouth feel with a clean, minerally finish.

Ok so here's the rub. Do you give a high rating because you paired it with your expected audience? Ok, so I served it chilled because it had a bit too much residual sugar, but it was a flippin' homerun at the park on a nice summer evening with the sun setting behind the hills...my self esteem improved greatly even though everyone only loved me for my wine ;)
