This Greco di Tufo is exhilarating with all the raciness that the variety can offer. A small percentage of Coda di Volpe adds a spicy snap and golden color. This wine has been described as "compulsively drinkable.” Angelarosa is a small family winery high in the Avellino hills, at elevations to about 1600 feet. The steep vineyards at such high elevations benefit from a warm, sunny southwestern exposure and wide differences between daytime and nighttime temperatures. This results in grapes that ripen well and also store up their perfume and fine, delicate fruit. Nunzio Aurisicchio is the owner and agronomist, and several years ago he assured his success by hiring the young enologo, Fortunato Sebastiano. For generations Nunzio’s family has been growing grapes for sale to large, commercial wineries. Since he started to bottle wines under the Angelarosa name in 2006, with Fortunato’s help, he has quickly captured a small but devoted following of connoisseurs in Campania. This following will doubtless grow in America now that it’s available here.
