Editorial Reviews for Andrew Murray Syrah Santa Ynez Valley Reserve
Very ripe on the nose and full of meaty, grilled beefy notes over licorice and bay leaf edged dried plum and mulberry fruit. Cool and crisp on entry with a rich, slightly matte mouthfeel. The finely angular tannins quickly make their presence known as they poke through the very black and spicy core of savory fruit. This is still youthful and at a bit of an in between stage since the fruit has started to develop some complexity but the structure remains very youthful. Lot’s of candied plum fruit on the backend leads to a spicy, peppery candied cherry finish that ends on a very long licorice tone. 89pts

A young precocious Syrah bordering on obscene. Ok, maybe not all that, but it has tons of alcohol, tannin, and of course, flavor. To be honest, it reminded me a bit like gasoline, but the good kind like Chevron. That hint of sweetness you get when the pump first opens up. I know, but that's what I got in the nose and I liked-ed it!
Something I rarely say but this Syrah was a little overboard on the fruit even for me. It's richness is evident the second you pour it and view the deep, almost black color but right now the fruit is so overpowering it's almost cloying. Probably a few years of aging and it will be something special but if you want to drink a Syrah today Murray has better choices.

Wine Tasting NotesWe refer to our "everyday" and easy-drinking Syrah as our "Tous les Jours". This is a blend of Syrah from Paso Robles and Syrah from our Estate. It is produced and carefully blended to be soft and smooth and full of ripe berry aromas and flavors.
