Andre Neveu Sancerre le Manoir 2010

Member Review by shsim:

The difference of Sauvignon Blanc and any other wines from France as compared with other places has always amazed me and this wine is no different. It is as if we have to treat them with a special care because they are so different despite being made from the same grape. The Sancerre had a certain minerality to it and it seems pretty common for french wines to have that characteristics. The rustic taste I call it. It was not too sweet, had good taste with mainly the minerality shining. More at http://dionyshius.blogspot.com/2012/03/showdown-saturday.html

The wine was first created to introduce Americans to affordable sparkling wines in an effort to compete with imported Champagne. In fact, André is one of the wines that gave the Champagne district in France impetus to brand themselves, declaring anything other than sparkling wine made in Champagne is just sparkling wine. That said, André remains a popular alternative, and since its inception is now available in a wide variety of styles including rosé and from dry to sweet.  Read less
