The consistency of "ELOGE" since 2002 is amazing. The 2008 continues the quest for perfection. The tannins encase both the softness and smoothness of this wine and then slip away at the right moment so that you can really enjoy the heart and soul of this gorgeous wine. The "ELOGE" takes you to the next level of wine enjoyment.

This is the perfect red. I have been drinking every vintage and when you say it can't get any better, the next vintage steps it up a notch. Robert Parker gave the latest release a 96-100 rating.

[Blue Hill] Decanted for an hour, drnk over 3 hrs; but relatively unchanged from when it was first opened. Bordeaux in style. Cedar, herbs, licorice, tar, spice, and smoke. Well balanced, great structure, Drinking well now.

Nice color and muted fruit on the nose along with hints of damp straw. Upon tasting, I notice refined tannins which hold together the dark fruits, vanilla, light touches of oak and a definite earthiness. The wine in my opinion is perfectly structured and has a finish that goes on forever. Year after year the "ELOGE" becomes more refined than the previous year.

Bright up front with a light plum and red Stamen Winesap apple. (It happens to be an apple I really like.) Not a strong finish in the back of the throat as the fruit dominates the tongue.

(Review of November 2009.) We've tassted this wine on three occasions over the past two years, and it's been excellent eah time. Purchased for $40 at the winery during a nearly 1/2-off sale, this Cabernet had superb aromatics that reminded me of a top-flight St. Julien. Dark currants, cranberry, black cherry, and subtle violet-like floral notes highlight the complex nose. Structured very like a top Bordeaux - less weighty in the mouth and much less alcoholic than some of the bigger Conn Valley Eloge's of recent years. Perhaps it lacks a bit of grip compared to those bigger wines, but it is still a sensational Bordeaux-style blend, especially at about 1/2 the cost of current vintages. It's drinking great right now and will continue to do so for at least another 10 years.

The 2009 Eloge is a gorgeous, supple wine bursting with expressive red fruit, flowers and sweet spices. Here the oak seems better integrated and smoother than in the Cabernet Sauvignon, at least at this stage. Layers of red berries build towards the textured, totally inviting finish. This is a striking effort. In 2009 the blend is 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot and 8% Merlot. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021.

The 2009 Eloge bursts from the glass with juicy dark cherries flowers mint tobacco licorice and earthiness. I especially like the immediacy of the fruit here. There is pure plushness and juiciness in the 2009 that is impossible not to love. Black cherries tobacco smoke and graphite all wrap around the intense juicy finish. This is a terrific showing from Todd Anderson and his team. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2029. -Antonio Galloni Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.

WA 96-98 Pts. - According to Wine Advocate: Remarkably, the 2008 Eloge may be as compelling. Composed of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot and Merlot, it exhibits a dense opaque purple color followed by aromas of espresso roast, cassis, blueberries, licorice and lead pencil shavings. Deep, full and layered with phenomenal concentration and purity, this wine satisfies both the hedonistic and intellectual senses. It should drink well for 15-20 years.
