Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyards Red Bordeaux Blend Napa Valley Éloge 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

2004 Conn Valley Eloge Red Blend Eloge is a Bordeaux-styled red composed of approximately two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon, nearly one-third Cabernet Franc, and tiny dollops of Petit Verdot and Merlot. Made from a similar blend, the 2004 Eloge's dark ruby/purple color is followed by scents of graphite, camphor, black currants, tapenade, flowers, and spice. Rich, supple, and full-bodied with silky tannin, abundant glycerin, and heady alcohol (listed at 14.8%), it will drink gorgeously well young, and last 10-20 years.Wine Advocate # 168 Dec 2006 This is a California Wine

Once the grapes are picked, which can take anywhere from three days to three weeks depending on the weather, they are crushed and the juice placed in large stainless steel tanks for fermentation. Fermentation is allowed to proceed until just the right amount of sugar has been converted to alcohol, at which point the young wine is separate from the remaining pomace of skins and sediment and racked into French oak barrels to age in the caves. Periodically, the barrels are racked over the course of two years to remove standing sediment prior to bottling, corking, labeling and packaging. Wine cases are then stored in a specially designed, temperature controlled warehouse. Read less

Full-bodied, with full rich middle palate, many layers of fruit. Perfectbalance of fruit, oak and acid, this wine is opulent and intense. Great finish.

The 2004 Eloge (65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Merlot and Petit Verdot) is a beauty. Notes of cedar, spice box, black currant, leather, truffle, and earth jump from the glass of this elegant yet authoritatively flavored wine... Robert Parker.
