Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Prologue 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Tasting Notes:This outstanding 100% Cabernet is bright, pretty and already complex, unfolding its cherry, red currant, violet, vanilla and rose petal aromas in a decidedly elegant aromatic profile. It is flavorful and supple, but quietly crisp on the palate, where its cherry, violet, sandalwood, toast and vanilla flavors linger beautifully. This is a classy and polished bottling, with enough tannin to balance it for rich sauces.

Once the grapes are picked, which can take anywhere from three days to three weeks depending on the weather, they are crushed and the juice placed in large stainless steel tanks for fermentation. Fermentation is allowed to proceed until just the right amount of sugar has been converted to alcohol, at which point the young wine is separate from the remaining pomace of skins and sediment and racked into French oak barrels to age in the caves. Periodically, the barrels are racked over the course of two years to remove standing sediment prior to bottling, corking, labeling and packaging. Wine cases are then stored in a specially designed, temperature controlled warehouse. Read less

Purchased at a boutique wine merchant in VT for $22, wow what a value. Fruity, not many tannins, but smooth and very drinkable. Will get more.

Bought this wine via recommendation from the sommelier at a local casual restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. Very enjoyable Napa Cab, much more complex than anticipated.

94 Points - The Wine Advocate "As I indicated last year, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a brilliant effort. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, it has begun to shut down slightly, but reveals an opaque purple color along with deep, sweet, cedary, black currant aromas intermixed with hints of tobacco leaf, licorice and graphite. Full-bodied, powerful and rich, this impressive 2007 needs 4-5 years of cellaring and should keep for 25+ years."winemaker's notes: Classic Conn Valley bouquet, cassis, cigar box, black pepper and crushed granite. Complex and dense. Full bodied, blackberries, sweet tannins, coffee, chewy and concentrated long finish, lingering aftertaste. Should age effortlessly 20-25 years.
