Ampelos Pinot Noir Lambda United States California Santa Barbara Sta. Rita Hills 2006
Wine Tasting Notes This wine is bursting with rich cherry notes and the underlying flavor of cola, this pinot shows us what one more year of growth can do for vines. The nose offers a hint of milk chocolate and blueberries. Enjoy this wine with your summer cuisine from salads to quiche and especially barbeque.
Our vineyards and winery are managed in a very intensive, hands-on way, which we believe is the only way to make great wine. Wines available at the winery are described in the Current Wines section and can be ordered on the Purchase section. If you would like to keep up to date with ampelos cellars & vineyard, we invite you to join our emailing list. Or if you really want to be part of the ampelos family check out our “filos” wine club.
A powerful pinot. Last I heard its fruit is biodynamically grown. Strong acid balances strong sour ripe tasty pinot fruit and cola and spice. Some leather and wood notes in the background. Lingering finish. Excellent effort. Body medium, acid medium or higher, tannin medium minus. Somewhat indistinct nose therefore a point or two off the pro's score.
